Carmine Mercer
I'm Carmine Mercer, a writer with a passion for literature, history and the art of storytelling. My interests span creative fiction, historical writing and literary exploration, bringing together a fascination with the past and a love of creating stories of my own.
I have always been drawn to the written word and its ability to preserve experiences, explore ideas and transport readers into different worlds. Whether uncovering the stories held within historical sources or developing fictional narratives, I enjoy exploring the ways in which language can shape our understanding of people, places and the world around us.
My particular interests lie in historical literature, social and cultural history, and the development of written texts. I'm fascinated by old books, historical manuscripts and the evolution of printing, as well as the relationship between literature and the societies in which it was created. I find equal enjoyment in historical research and creative writing, particularly where the two intersect.
I am currently studying towards a degree in Arts and Humanities with Creative Writing through The Open University, specialising in Creative Writing and History. My studies continue to broaden my understanding of literary traditions, historical contexts and critical approaches to writing, while allowing me to develop my own creative voice and writing practice.
Alongside my academic work, I enjoy writing original fiction, experimenting with descriptive language and developing narratives that explore atmosphere, mystery and the complexities of human experience. I am particularly drawn to stories that leave an impression on the reader, whether through an intriguing character, an evocative setting or a lingering sense of the unknown.
This portfolio brings together a selection of my creative and academic work, reflecting both my developing interests and my ongoing journey as a writer.
I see writing as a continuous process of curiosity, discovery and experimentation. There is always another story to tell, another perspective to explore and another way to bring words to life.
Thank you for taking the time to explore my work.
